#CUREVSS Fundraiser Updates & How to Help

Happy 2022!

In my last post I wrote about collaborating with the Eye on Vision Foundation and our big, ongoing fundraiser to advance research, #CureVSS . Since then, we have raised over $24,000! That’s very exciting considering that my last post was written in November 2021 - only 3 months ago. But we need to keep the momentum going.

If you’ve already donated, or can’t donate at this time, but you still want to help, here are powerful ways to do so:

  • Educate yo’self: Read about what we’re raising funds for, the Monash Univ. Proposed VSS Research plan.

  • Build awareness: Share the fundraiser, use our hashtag, talk to your community about VSS and other invisible illnesses and what they mean.

    • Be smart with Social Media: Follow the Eye on Vision Foundation, then share and save their posts about VSS. Or, create your own posts and tag them! This tells ye olde algorithm to pay attention!

  • Share your story: If you or someone you are close to has VSS and you want to share your story, the Eye on Vision Foundation is looking for folks to publish online!

  • Get connected: Go to Eyeonvision.org and sign up for the newsletter.

  • Shop smart: Do you use Amazon? Set up Amazon Smile to benefit the Eye On Vision Foundation nonprofit.

  • Volunteer to fundraise: Have an idea but don’t know how to get started? Check this out…

Yes, a lot of this is focused on the Eye On Vision Foundation. You might ask, Why?

I like working with them because they are working on a focused fundraiser, meaning we know where the funds are going! They also have been raising funds in this way, for specific research, since 2006. And they have a ton of amazing resources to share with VSS folks in general. “They” are a one-woman-run nonprofit! I love supporting female-led movements. :)
